How do you celebrate the expansion of a children’s home? With "100 Days of Construction" of course.

The Adams Group recently helped with the planning of two exciting and worthwhile events designed to kick off the expansion of Columbia’s Palmetto Place, a home for abused and neglected children and teens.

The expansion project, which is expected to be completed in August, will add 10 beds to the emergency shelter, bringing the total number to 30 and allowing the organization to serve more than 100 children each year.

Palmetto Place reached out to The Adams Group in February for ideas and, with the agency’s help, launched “100 Days of Construction.” The project kicked off with a demolition party in March.

At the home’s most recent event held in June, board members, donors, volunteers and staff were invited to walk through the building in a casual and relaxed environment to see the progress that’s been made.

Participants also were invited to paint bricks from the original home, which is more than 100 years old. The colorful bricks will be used in the shelter’s walkways.
